My excuse - its the beginning of term...

Ok so that' not really an excuse however it's the best I can do with regard to my lack of contributions to the blog recently.

So, what you may ask has been happening in the world of Fishbone recently. Jo's show finished and we decided to give ourselves sometime to re-evaluate the whole process of the art world - well the little bit that's attached to Jeff, myself, the kids and Longford - and of course not forgetting the rest of the people that have invested in us over the past year.

Jeff has been using the gallery as studio space to produce some more work, which is coming along nicely - he still hasn't a show however - his dates keep being moved along...

We have really enjoyed the time since we've been operating as the Fishbone and it's only right after what is coming up to a year we should question our presence - and we have in no uncertain terms. And although our common sense tells us that we should cut and run - we honestly can't do that the gallery is an integral part of our lives and we shall continue. We are busy with artist shows and busy with visitors... it is a big responsibility however to run the gallery and at times it can be exhausting - we feel however, even if it's only in a small way, we make a difference to some peoples lives...mainly artists and people who like samosa's (you'd have to come to a PV to understand the last reference)

Sooooo... with this in mind we should announce that our next show will be the long awaited Exhibition of a "Collection" - I shall say no more than this for the time being but suffice to say that the private view is the 29th of October and we shall once again be starting what is coming up to our 2nd year with as much gusto as we have always had.

The people concerned with this show are very close to our hearts, they have supported us constantly since we have opened - they don't really know (i think) how much that is appreciated...they are however nervous as the next artist would be...it's a roller coaster ride of fun, frustration and frantic wine buying...ahhhh!!

I shall try and update this blog daily to let you start to feel how franatically (I know that's not a word but just humour me!) hectic an exhibition can be....

Starting with tomorrow - Jeff and co are off to see the 'Collector', Jeff & I are off to a local carpet shop for some carpet tube...and (this is the best bit!) Jeff said he'd make me tea in bed in the morning - now really, which one of these is the most unlikely to happen?

...you shall be informed

Till very soon.... Judy

Fishbone Gallery

My photo
Longford, Coventry, United Kingdom
The Fishbone Gallery is something of a rarity. A gallery committed to promoting the diversity of the visual arts of the West Midlands, that supports new artists and encourages them to show work that otherwise might not receive the attention it deserves. We are not primarily a profit making enterprise, and therefore we can afford to show experimental work that would never gain proper exposure through commercial channels. We also host a wide range of community projects and events, clubs and classes, run by specialist practitioners with thorough knowledge of their particular disciplines. We welcome all people of all ages and all cultural backgrounds, to come along and be part of what we do. Our mission is to make art and art practise an integral part of the lives of the people of Longford, and to encourage a broader audience for the visual arts in Coventry and the West Midlands. The gallery is run by Judy Kay and Jeff Hatt
